Multi-Day Tours 2018
Go and Write ! Tuscany
Combine adventure with writing on this unique retreat.
Join Dr. Gerard Collins, an award-winning Newfoundland author, mentor, and university educator, on this creative writing retreat in Tuscany, Italy.
Your writing getaway includes round-trip air from Saint John, New Brunswick (other travel arrangements available), 6 nights at the Belvedere di San Leonino villa in Chianti, Italy, writing workshops and one-on-one feedback sessions, all breakfasts and dinners, ground transportation, taxes, and airport fees.
During our 6-night stay at the villa, Gerard will offer two creative writing workshops and host individual meetings with all participants, where the focus is on you and your writing, and where Gerard will provide detailed feedback on your writing.
There will be group readings in the evenings, optional writing prompts, and many opportunities for grand conversation and inspiration: a thoughtful balance of time spent in the company of other writers and time alone dedicated to your own writing.
We also have the option of a full day trip to Florence, cradle of Renaissance Italy, where we'll visit Medici Chapel and Dante House Museum, among other sites. While this day trip is highly recommended, it's an add-on ($275/person), as travelers have asked that we try to keep our base price down. Please indicate your interest when you book.

Fall colours on the Miramichi
Oct 4-5, 2018
Take a beautiful drive through New Brunswick to the Miramichi area on the world famous Miramichi River. Renowned for its legendary salmon fishing and rustic, natural charm, this beautiful community will provide you with a warm welcome.
Here you will discover Beaubears Island: The history of this Island spans thousands of years, beginning with the early First Nations people who fished and hunted on the Island. In the mid-1600s, they welcomed the first French settlers, who had come in search of fish and furs. During the 7 Years War, Acadians living in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island were expelled from their homeland by the British, and Beaubears Island acted as a refuge for hundreds of these Acadians. After 1765, the first English-speaking settlers arrived in the Miramichi area and during this time, Beaubears Island emerged as an important shipbuilding site.
This evening we will shift gears and get ready for some toe tapping excitement and enjoy a true local experience with a Maritime Kitchen party. The next morning, begin your day with a beautiful breakfast on Middle Island, and then travel to Escuminac, where you will meet local storytellers for a beautiful lunch and be regaled with famous fishing tales from the region. Finally, enjoy a relaxing drive back through the scenic countryside in the afternoon with fond memories of your trip to the famous salmon river.
